A late-Makkan surah. It presents the mission of all messengers as one — bringing mankind out of darkness into light — and centres on the prayer of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) at Makkah for the city, its future believers and his own descendants; a word of tawhid is like a good tree, firmly rooted, its branches in the sky.
