21. Surah Al-Anbiya (الأنبياء)
Revelation: Makki (revealed at Makkah) · Ayahs: 112
Introduction — from Tafheem-ul-Quran
From the middle Makkan period. It warns a heedless people that their reckoning draws near, argues that the universe's order proves the One Creator — 'had there been in them gods besides Allah, both would have been ruined' — and parades the prophets, from Ibrahim breaking the idols to Ayyub's patience and Yunus in the darkness, ending with the Prophet ﷺ sent 'only as a mercy to the worlds.'
Condensed from Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi's introduction to this surah in Tafheem-ul-Quran.
