Revealed at Madinah after the campaign of Banu al-Mustaliq, in the wake of the slander against A'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her). It vindicates her, legislates against slander and indecency, lays down the rules of hijab and of seeking permission before entering homes, and contains the luminous Verse of Light โ 'Allah is the Light of the heavens and the earth.'
