26. Surah Ash-Shu'ara (الشعراء)
Revelation: Makki (revealed at Makkah) · Ayahs: 227
Introduction — from Tafheem-ul-Quran
A middle-Makkan surah consoling the Prophet ﷺ, who grieved himself almost to death over his people's rejection. Seven stories — Musa and Pharaoh, Ibrahim, Nuh, Hud, Salih, Lut and Shu'ayb — repeat one refrain: every messenger said 'Fear Allah and obey me,' most people disbelieved, and 'indeed your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful.'
Condensed from Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi's introduction to this surah in Tafheem-ul-Quran.
