37. Surah As-Saffat (ุงู„ุตุงูุงุช)

Revelation: Makki (revealed at Makkah) ยท Ayahs: 182

Introduction โ€” from Tafheem-ul-Quran

A middle-Makkan surah opening with the oath of the ranged angels. It refutes the pagan claim that angels are Allah's daughters, and recounts the trials of the prophets โ€” above all Ibrahim's readiness to sacrifice his son, ransomed with a great sacrifice โ€” ending: 'Glory be to your Lord, the Lord of honour, above what they describe... and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.'

Condensed from Sayyid Abul A'la Maududi's introduction to this surah in Tafheem-ul-Quran.
