Introduction โ€” from Tafheem-ul-Quran

A Makkan surah declaring that the same religion was enjoined on Nuh, Ibrahim, Musa and Isa: 'Establish the religion and be not divided in it.' It describes the believers' community as one whose affairs are decided 'by consultation (shura) among themselves' โ€” the principle from which the surah takes its name.
