A Makkan surah dismantling the pagans' pride in wealth and ancestry. If Allah gave gold and silver to disbelievers it would mean nothing, for 'the mercy of your Lord is better than what they amass'; Isa (peace be upon him) is presented as a servant of Allah, not a deity, against the arguments of the Quraysh.
