1

إِذَا ٱلسَّمَآءُ ٱنشَقَّتۡ

When the sky is rent asunder

2

وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ

and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should

3

وَإِذَا ٱلۡأَرۡضُ مُدَّتۡ

and when the earth is stretched out

4

وَأَلۡقَتۡ مَا فِيهَا وَتَخَلَّتۡ

and casts out what is within it and is emptied

5

وَأَذِنَتۡ لِرَبِّهَا وَحُقَّتۡ

and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should

6

يَٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ إِنَّكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ كَدۡحࣰ ا فَمُلَٰقِيهِ

O man, you are striving unto your Lord and you will meet Him

7

فَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ بِيَمِينِهِۦ

Whoever is given the Record in his right hand

8

فَسَوۡفَ يُحَاسَبُ حِسَابࣰ ا يَسِيرࣰ ا

shall be called to an easy accounting

9

وَيَنقَلِبُ إِلَىٰٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورࣰ ا

and shall return to his people joyfully

10

وَأَمَّا مَنۡ أُوتِيَ كِتَٰبَهُۥ وَرَآءَ ظَهۡرِهِۦ

But he who is given the Record behind his back

11

فَسَوۡفَ يَدۡعُواْ ثُبُورࣰ ا

shall cry for “perdition,”

12

سَعِيرًا

and will enter the Blazing Fire

13

إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ فِيٓ أَهۡلِهِۦ مَسۡرُورًا

He used to live joyfully among his people

14

إِنَّهُۥ ظَنَّ أَن لَّن يَحُورَ

thinking he would never revert (to Us)

15

بَلَىٰٓۚ إِنَّ رَبَّهُۥ كَانَ بِهِۦ بَصِيرࣰ ا

But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him

16

فَلَآ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلشَّفَقِ

Nay; I swear by the twilight

17

وَمَا

and by the night and what it enfolds

18

وَٱلۡقَمَرِ إِذَا ٱتَّسَقَ

and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness

19

لَتَرۡكَبُنَّ عَن طَبَقࣲ‏

you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage

20

فَمَا لَهُمۡ لَا

So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe

21

وَإِذَا قُرِئَ عَلَيۡهِمُ ٱلۡقُرۡءَانُ لَا يَسۡجُدُونَۤ۩

and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves

22

بَلِ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُواْ يُكَذِّبُونَ

Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie

23

أَعۡلَمُ بِمَا

Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record)

24

فَبَشِّرۡهُم بِعَذَابٍ أَلِيمٍ

So give them the good news of a painful chastisement

25

إِلَّا ٱلَّذِينَ وَعَمِلُواْ ٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِ لَهُمۡ أَجۡرٌ غَيۡرُ مَمۡنُونِۭ

except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward
