النازعات

🕋 The Surah — Ayah by Ayah

1

وَٱلنَّٰزِعَٰتِ غَرۡقࣰ ا

By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths

2

نَشۡطࣰ ا

and gently take it away

3

سَبۡحࣰ ا

and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos)

4

فَٱلسَّٰبِقَٰتِ سَبۡقࣰ ا

and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests)

5

فَٱلۡمُدَبِّرَٰتِ أَمۡرࣰ ا

and then manage the affairs of the Universe (according to their Lord's commands)

6

يَوۡمَ ٱلرَّاجِفَةُ

The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion

7

تَتۡبَعُهَا

and will be followed by another quaking

8

قُلُوبࣱ يَوۡمَئِذࣲ

On that Day some hearts shall tremble (with fright)

9

أَبۡصَٰرُهَا

and their eyes shall be downcast with dread

10

يَقُولُونَ أَءِنَّا لَمَرۡدُودُونَ فِي

They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life

11

أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمࣰ ا

even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?”

12

قَالُواْ تِلۡكَ إِذࣰ ا خَاسِرَةࣱ‏

They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!”

13

فَإِنَّمَا هِيَ وَٰحِدَةࣱ‏

Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast

14

فَإِذَا هُم

and lo, they will all be in the open plain

15

هَلۡ أَتَىٰكَ حَدِيثُ مُوسَىٰٓ

Has Moses' story reached you

16

إِذۡ نَادَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ بِٱلۡوَادِ

When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa

17

ٱذۡهَبۡ إِلَىٰ فِرۡعَوۡنَ إِنَّهُۥ طَغَىٰ

and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled

18

فَقُلۡ هَل لَّكَ إِلَىٰٓ أَن تَزَكَّىٰ

and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified

19

وَأَهۡدِيَكَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ فَتَخۡشَىٰ

that I may direct you to your Lord and then you hold Him in awe?'”

20

فَأَرَىٰهُ ٱلۡأٓيَةَ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ

Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign

21

فَكَذَّبَ وَعَصَىٰ

but he denied it as false and disobeyed

22

ثُمَّ أَدۡبَرَ يَسۡعَىٰ

and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness

23

فَحَشَرَ فَنَادَىٰ

and gathered his people and declared

24

فَقَالَ أَنَا۠ رَبُّكُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَىٰ

“I am the supreme lord of you all.”

25

فَأَخَذَهُ ٱلۡأٓخِرَةِ وَٱلۡأُولَىٰٓ

Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present

26

إِنَّ فِي ذَٰلِكَ لِّمَن يَخۡشَىٰٓ

Surely there is a great lesson in it for whoever would fear (Allah)

27

ءَأَنتُمۡ أَشَدُّ خَلۡقًا أَمِ ٱلسَّمَآءُۚ بَنَىٰهَا

Is it harder to create you or the heaven? But Allah built it

28

رَفَعَ فَسَوَّىٰهَا

and raised its vault high and proportioned it

29

لَيۡلَهَا وَأَخۡرَجَ

and covered its night with darkness and brought forth from it its day

30

وَٱلۡأَرۡضَ بَعۡدَ ذَٰلِكَ

and thereafter spread out the earth

31

أَخۡرَجَ مِنۡهَا مَآءَهَا

and brought out of it its water and its pasture

32

and firmly fixed in it mountains

33

مَتَٰعࣰ ا لَّكُمۡ وَلِأَنۡعَٰمِكُمۡ

all this as provision for you and your cattle

34

فَإِذَا جَآءَتِ ٱلۡكُبۡرَىٰ

But when the great calamity will come about

35

يَوۡمَ يَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَٰنُ مَا سَعَىٰ

on the Day when man will recall all his strivings

36

لِمَن يَرَىٰ

and Hell will be brought in sight for anyone to see

37

فَأَمَّا مَن

then he who transgressed

38

وَءَاثَرَ ٱلۡحَيَوٰةَ ٱلدُّنۡيَا

and preferred the life of this world

39

فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَحِيمَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ

most surely his abode shall be Hell

40

وَأَمَّا مَنۡ خَافَ مَقَامَ رَبِّهِۦ وَنَهَى ٱلنَّفۡسَ عَنِ

But he who feared to stand before his Lord, and restrained himself from evil desires

41

فَإِنَّ ٱلۡجَنَّةَ هِيَ ٱلۡمَأۡوَىٰ

most surely his abode shall be Paradise

42

يَسۡـَٔلُونَكَ عَنِ ٱلسَّاعَةِ أَيَّانَ مُرۡسَىٰهَا

They ask you about the Hour: “When will it be?”

43

فِيمَ أَنتَ مِن ذِكۡرَىٰهَآ

What concern do you have to speak about that

44

إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ مُنتَهَىٰهَآ

Its knowledge rests with your Lord

45

إِنَّمَآ أَنتَ مُنذِرُ مَن

You are only a warner to him who has a fear of it

46

كَأَنَّهُمۡ يَوۡمَ يَرَوۡنَهَا لَمۡ يَلۡبَثُوٓاْ إِلَّا عَشِيَّةً أَوۡ

On the Day they see it, they will feel as though they had stayed (in the grave) no more than one evening or one morning
