النبأ

1

عَمَّ يَتَسَآءَلُونَ

About what are they asking one another

2

عَنِ ٱلنَّبَإِ ٱلۡعَظِيمِ

Is it about the awesome tiding

3

ٱلَّذِي هُمۡ فِيهِ مُخۡتَلِفُونَ

that they are in utter disagreement

4

كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ

No indeed; soon will they come to know

5

ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَيَعۡلَمُونَ

again, no indeed; soon will they come to know

6

أَلَمۡ نَجۡعَلِ ٱلۡأَرۡضَ مِهَٰدࣰ ا

Have We not spread the earth like a bed

7

وَٱلۡجِبَالَ أَوۡتَادࣰ ا

and fixed the mountains like pegs

8

وَخَلَقۡنَٰكُمۡ أَزۡوَٰجࣰ ا

and created you in pairs (as men and women)

9

وَجَعَلۡنَا سُبَاتࣰ ا

and made your sleep a means of repose

10

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلَّيۡلَ لِبَاسࣰ ا

and made the night a covering

11

وَجَعَلۡنَا ٱلنَّهَارَ مَعَاشࣰ ا

and made the day to seek livelihood

12

وَبَنَيۡنَا فَوۡقَكُمۡ سَبۡعࣰ ا شِدَادࣰ ا

and built above you seven strong firmaments

13

وَجَعَلۡنَا سِرَاجࣰ ا وَهَّاجࣰ ا

and placed therein a hot, shining lamp

14

وَأَنزَلۡنَا مِنَ مَآءࣰ ثَجَّاجࣰ ا

and sent down abundant water from the clouds

15

لِّنُخۡرِجَ بِهِۦ حَبࣰّ ا وَنَبَاتࣰ ا

so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation

16

وَجَنَّٰتٍ أَلۡفَافًا

and gardens dense with foliage

17

إِنَّ يَوۡمَ ٱلۡفَصۡلِ كَانَ مِيقَٰتࣰ ا

Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time

18

يَوۡمَ يُنفَخُ فِي فَتَأۡتُونَ أَفۡوَاجࣰ ا

the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes

19

وَفُتِحَتِ ٱلسَّمَآءُ فَكَانَتۡ أَبۡوَٰبࣰ ا

and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors

20

وَسُيِّرَتِ ٱلۡجِبَالُ فَكَانَتۡ

and the mountains will be set in motion and become a mirage

21

إِنَّ جَهَنَّمَ كَانَتۡ مِرۡصَادࣰ ا

Surely the Hell is an ambush

22

لِّلطَّٰغِينَ مَـَٔابࣰ ا

a resort for the rebellious

23

لَّٰبِثِينَ فِيهَآ أَحۡقَابࣰ ا

therein they shall abide for ages

24

لَّا يَذُوقُونَ فِيهَا بَرۡدࣰ ا وَلَا شَرَابًا

they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink

25

إِلَّا حَمِيمࣰ ا وَغَسَّاقࣰ ا

save boiling water and wash of the wounds

26

جَزَآءࣰ

a befitting recompense for their deeds

27

إِنَّهُمۡ كَانُواْ لَا يَرۡجُونَ حِسَابࣰ ا

For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning

28

وَكَذَّبُواْ بِـَٔايَٰتِنَا كِذَّابࣰ ا

and roundly denied Our Signs as false

29

وَكُلَّ شَيۡءٍ أَحۡصَيۡنَٰهُ كِتَٰبࣰ ا

And everything have We recorded in a Book

30

فَذُوقُواْ فَلَن نَّزِيدَكُمۡ إِلَّا عَذَابًا

So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment

31

إِنَّ لِلۡمُتَّقِينَ مَفَازًا

Surely the state of triumph awaits the God-fearing

32

حَدَآئِقَ وَأَعۡنَٰبࣰ ا

gardens and vineyards

33

وَكَوَاعِبَ أَتۡرَابࣰ ا

and youthful maidens of like age

34

وَكَأۡسࣰ ا دِهَاقࣰ ا

and an overflowing cup

35

لَّا يَسۡمَعُونَ فِيهَا لَغۡوࣰ ا وَلَا كِذَّٰبࣰ ا

Therein they shall hear no idle talk, nor any falsehood

36

جَزَآءࣰ مِّن رَّبِّكَ عَطَآءً حِسَابࣰ ا

a recompense from your Lord and an ample reward

37

رَّبِّ ٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ وَٱلۡأَرۡضِ وَمَا بَيۡنَهُمَا ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنِۖ لَا يَمۡلِكُونَ مِنۡهُ خِطَابࣰ ا

from the Lord of the heavens and the earth and of that which is between them; the Most Merciful Lord before Whom none dare utter a word

38

يَوۡمَ يَقُومُ ٱلرُّوحُ وَٱلۡمَلَٰٓئِكَةُ صَفࣰّ اۖ لَّا يَتَكَلَّمُونَ إِلَّا مَنۡ أَذِنَ لَهُ ٱلرَّحۡمَٰنُ وَقَالَ صَوَابࣰ ا

The Day when the Spirit and the angels are ranged row on row. None shall speak save he whom the Merciful Lord will permit; and he too will speak what is right

39

ذَٰلِكَ ٱلۡيَوۡمُ ٱلۡحَقُّۖ فَمَن شَآءَ ٱتَّخَذَ إِلَىٰ رَبِّهِۦ

That Day is sure to come. So let him who will seek a resort with his Lord

40

إِنَّآ أَنذَرۡنَٰكُمۡ عَذَابࣰ ا قَرِيبࣰ ا يَوۡمَ يَنظُرُ مَا قَدَّمَتۡ يَدَاهُ وَيَقُولُ ٱلۡكَافِرُ يَٰلَيۡتَنِي كُنتُ

Lo! We warn you of a chastisement near at hand; the Day when a man will look on what his own hands have sent forth, and the unbelievers shall say: “Oh would that I were utter dust.”
